-- Studio Log Day 1 --

We will be using this post to keep you updated on our progress in the studio. Today we got started by setting up drums and getting drum sounds to begin laying down tracks tomorrow. All is well and looking good to get all 5 songs tracked tomorrow on drums as well as bass and some guitars. Come back tomorrow for the next episode...

-- Studio Log Day 2 --

Our first full day in the studio went great. We started out the day tuning up the drums and getting drum tones for recording. I spent a few hours laying down all 5 tracks which I have to say came out great. We finished up with all the drums and switched over to start tracking the bass. Chris spent some time to get a good base tone to record and got one song laid down before we ended the day. Tomorrow we will continue the bass tracking for the other four songs and start on the guitars. We hope to have all of the guitars done by the end of tomorrow night so we can begin vocals on monday. As for the ever elusive band name, we have narrowed it down to 3 choices, two of which we have a stalemate on - half likes one, the other have likes the other. I have a feeling it will the the third choice. We are working with our management to help us make a decision because we all cant seem to. Hopefully tomorrow is the day we finally choose.

-- Studio Log Day 3 --

One more day gone and lots of progress to report! Chris spent the morning finishing up with the remaining four songs on bass (which came out great - his bass sound is sick!) and then we moved onto guitars. We typically record guitars in sections - distorted, solos, overparts, then clean. Today Joe and Anthony blew the first 3 and plan to finish up with the clean guitars tomorrow night. We were hoping to be done with all guitars tonight, but it just didnt work out. No worries thought, we are still making good time.

Joe and Anthony just switched guitar amps from Line 6 to Peavey XXX which made a world of difference in our sound. Our old sound was good, but had too much digital fuzz in the sound that it wasnt good for recording. The XXX is an all tube amp with a thick, deep and smooth guitar sound with that guttoral growl that sounds incredible for recording. I am really impressed at how well it came out. That mixed with chris's great bass sound and playing made for a really big and thick overall sound. I can already tell this will be our best sounding recording by far.

As far as names go, we are still at an impasse... It sucks trying to find a name that everyone likes. I guess we will drag this out one more night. We will keep you posted.

My guess would be the guy from Damageplan.

Anyway, I just finished setting up my rig about a half hour ago. I like Ampeg, but hate Ampeg because the shit is so heavy in comparison to everything else. I hate moving it.

Well, JRod. How about calling the band Impasse. It seems to stick, because you guys are having a hard time deciding. :P

It sounds unique.

-- Studio Log Day 4 --

Yesterday was a quick day in the studio (since we all had to come after work). Joe started out by finishing up his clean guitar tracks, then Anthony finished his up pretty quickly too. We quickly broke down the guitar rig and spent a couple hours sampling drum tones (which we use during mixdown - it gives us a nice and thick drum sound). By that time it was pretty late and our singer got ready to start laying down some vocals. We got the vocal booth setup and ready to record and banged out a song or two and called it a night. Tonight we will continue and more than likely finish all the vocal tracks and move into the mixdown phase of the project. We dont have any pictures to post from yesterday, but we probably post something from tonight. Who knows, we may actually put up a photo of him... come back tomorrow for more updates.

(props to chewy if you found pictures of him, and no its not the guy from damageplan)

Nice to see ya finally have the updates coming along :) Had almost lost hope. Still, as everyone here ... can't wait to hear some new stuff ... and I'm also a bit scared ... I hope it won't be a letdown. But somehow I don't doubt it ...

Cheers from Belgium.

And who is that other Belgian guy/girl here ???
Where ya from ?
